own和hold是什么意思

例子：shares 和 stocks 都是股票的意思，但shares 是指个人或集团拥有公司的.部分股票，而stock 是指一家公司的所有股票。因此，不能说：I own the stocks of that company, 只能用 I own the shares of that company。那我硬要用 stocks 来表达，可以吗？当然可以，但犹如上述，不能直接换词替代，应该这么说：I own part of the stocks of that company。
