英语日记作文 篇1

The first day of the Lunar New Year is "the welcoming of the gods of the heavens and earth."

Many people abstain from meat on the first day of the new year because it is believed that this will ensure long and happy lives for them.

On the second day, the Chinese pray to their ancestors as well as to all the gods. They are extra kind to dogs and feed them well as it is believed that the second day is the birthday of all dogs.

The third and fourth days are for the sons-in-laws to pay respect to their parents-in-law.

The fifth day is called Po Woo. On that day people stay home to welcome the God of Wealth. No one visits families and friends on the fifth day because it will bring both parties bad luck.

On the sixth to the 10th day, the Chinese visit their relatives and friends freely.

They also visit the temples to pray for good fortune and health.

The seventh day of the New Year is the day for farmers to display their produce.

These farmers make a drink from seven types of vegetables to celebrate the occasion. The seventh day is also considered the birthday of human beings. Noodles are eaten to promote longevity and raw fish for success.

On the eighth day the Fujian people have another family reunion dinner, and at midnight they pray to Tian Gong, the God of Heaven.

The ninth day is to make offerings to the Jade Emperor.

The 10th through the 12th are days that friends and relatives should be invited for dinner. After so much rich food, on the 13th day you should have simple rice congee and mustard greens (choi sum) to cleanse the system.

The 14th day should be for preparations to celebrate the Lantern Festival which is to be held on the 15th night.

英语日记作文 篇2

Dear Mr Smith,

I was so pleased to hear from you and am writing to tell you something about my school. You are right. Quite a few changes have taken place. On one side of the road there is a new classroom building. On the other side, where the playground used to be now stands another new building-our library. In it there are all kinds of books, newspapers and magazines. The playground is now in front of the school. We have also planted a lot of trees in and around the school. I hope you come and see for yourself some

Best wishes,

The other day my brother and I went to the cinema by bicycle. My brother was riding with me sitting on the seat behind. As we came to the crossroads a young man and a girl came up and stopped us. ‘We‘ve found you at long last,’ they said. But we didn’t know them. Pointing to a policeman not far away, the young man explained, ‘He stopped us about half an hour ago and made us catch the next offender. So come on, stand here. Hope you don‘t have to wait as long as we did . Good luck.’

Dear Peter,

We’re so gald you‘re coming to join us on Sunday. Here is how you can find us. We’ll have our picnic in the People‘s Park. You know where that is, don’t you? After you enter the park by the main gate, walk straight on till you come to a stream. Cross the stream and turn right. After walking for a while you‘ll come to a hill. Walk around to the other side of the hill. There you’ll see a lake. We‘ll have our picnic there in the small woods by the lake. I’m sure you‘ll have no trouble finding us. Do come!

In order to pay off the debts, they suffered hunger and cold day and night. Ten years of hard work made young Mathilde so old that Jeanne could hardly recognize her when they happened to meet one day in a park. 英语日记作文 篇5

Last August my parents and I went to Europe for a visit. We had a wonderful time there.

It took us about ten hours to fly from Beijing to Budapest, Hungary. And then we visited France, Germany, Italy and other countries. Europe was really beautiful.

The sky was blue, and the sunshine was bright. There were not so many tall buildings there as we had expected. Most of the people there were polite and friendly.

I was glad that when I spoke a little English, they all understood. After we stayed there for half a month, I began to miss my hometown. I couldn't live there for a whole life, though it was beautiful.

keeping a diary in english is one of the effective ways to improve our english writing ability. compared with other forms of writing, it is shorter and takes less time. it can help us to cultivate the habit of thinking in english. if we persist in his practice, gradually we’ll learn how to express ourselves in english.

in keeping a diary in english, we inevitably run up against a lot of difficulties. in the first place, it often happens that we have trouble finding appropriate words and phrases to express our mind. in the second place, there are many idiomatic ways of saying things in chinese. and it is extremely hard for us to put them into english properly.

as far as i’m concerned, my suggestion is that we should always have a notebook and a chinese-english dictionary within easy reach. what’s more, we can also turn to our english teacher for help, if necessary. in short, it is of great value to keep a diary in english for the development of our writing skills.
