Far and away the most important holiday in China is Spring Festival， also known as the Chinese New Year。 To the Chinese people it is as important as Christmas to people in the West。 the dates for this annual celebration are determined by the lunar calendar rather than the GREgorian calendar， so the timing of the holiday varies from late January to early February。

To the ordinary Chinese， the festival actually begins on the eve of the lunar New Year’s Day and ends on the fifth day of the first month of the lunar calendar。 But the 15th of the first month， which normally is called the Lantern Festival， means the official end of the Spring Festival in many parts of the country。

盼望着，盼望着，春节终于降临了。早上，我睁开双眼，朦胧地看见窗外的天空还灰蒙蒙的，想再睡一会儿。但一种忙碌的气息使我打起了精神。我穿上崭新的衣服，心里是无比的`愉快。新的一天又开始了。

早上我掌厨

一大早起来，我本以为我是第一个起床的。想不到爸爸妈妈早起床了，他们正在拜菩萨。看见我来了，妈妈就问我早上想吃什么，我说吃桂花园子吧。妈妈从冰箱里拿出一包桂花园子。由于妈妈实在太忙了，就叫我自己烧。我想这可难不倒我，野炊时我可学了几招。我把热水放在锅里，然后放在电磁炉上，一会儿，热水沸腾起来，我把园子放下去，盖上锅盖，几分钟后，园子浮起来了，还胖乎乎的，这说明熟了。我把园子盛起来，放上糖。哇，这就烧好了。我尝了，还给妈妈长了一下，妈妈还说太好吃了！

“新年到来，红包拿来。”“新年快乐！”在走向爷爷家的路上，我听见好多人都在向长辈们讨红包，祝福他们。“叮咚。”爷爷家到了，爷爷来开门，“新年到了，祝爷爷长命百岁！”我说。“也祝你好好学习，天天向上。”爷爷笑着。我把右手一摊。爷爷一时还没反应过来，但又马上从口袋里掏出红包给我。“谢谢爷爷！”我们待了一会儿，又到外公外婆家讨红包。
